This recent release by moonweather has really made me fall in love with folk/indie mixes even more (how was that even possible?) than I was before. When you blend together intentionally sweet and delicate vocals with pops of lovely guitar riffs, I’m truly destined for a great listening experience.
Compared to previous releases, Fall in the Void seems more tightened and honed in for moon weather, and I say that with the highest of praises. Unlike some others in their genre pool, there doesn’t seem to be any extra “fat” to the tracks, they all seem to be precise and intentionally created without the need for distraction or ‘unnecessary fluff’.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s room in some tracks to ponder, but it feels deliberate as well as dreamy, similar to the lyricism throughout this entire project.
The drums and horns on this project are sprinkled in with such care that it reminds me of watching a chef toss in the last of the seasonings…you know the ones that make a great dish PERFECT that they never reveal the names of?
There’s something about this album that pulls on my heart and soul with a warm and comforting grip, like the feeling you get when you stare at the person you love and they’re looking at you with the same calm understanding.
If we have to wait another 5 years for a project that’s half as good as this, I’m still 1000% in.
My advice? Listen to this album front to back in a new pair of fuzzy socks and cozy yourself up on the couch, preferably near a window where you can gaze out into nature.
