Introducing: Floris Francis Arthur – There Never Is And Never Was A Masterplan & 3 Qs

“FFA is the alter ego and solo moniker of Floris De Decker (frontman of Team William and Cloudy-Oh; musician with The Van Jets and Intergalactic Lovers). Armed with only his guitar and a piano, he aims straight for your heart with brutally honest songs about fear, depression, lost love and the passing of time. His fragile dark folksongs are reminiscent of artists like Bright Eyes, Daniel Johnston and Leonard Cohen. His debut album, There Never Is And Never Was A Masterplan will be released early December 2023.”

In one of my previous blog posts, I expressed my admiration for Cloudy-Oh, a Belgian indie band whose music resonated with me. Recently, the band’s lead singer, Floris, shared with me his debut solo album, which is a spectacular blend of indie folk pop and rock. The album is a remarkable display of songwriting prowess, with each of the ten tracks featuring stunning melodies and captivating vocals that are sure to tug at your heartstrings.

Even the piano-based songs in the album are excellent, despite my not having developed a liking for piano music in recent months. These tracks are perfect for cozy winter nights when you want to stay indoors with a warm cup of tea or mulled wine.

Floris has done a fantastic job with this album, and I am confident that it will reach a wider audience. The album is a testament to Floris’s talent and dedication to his craft, and I am excited to see what the future holds for this talented musician.

I reached to artist and asked our 3 Qs:

What inspired you to start making music and what keeps you making music?

I was a very anxious, very timid teenager, so it was hard to talk to people and say what I wanted to say. Music was my way to communicate with the world. On stage I gained some control over myself and the world around me. And off course I just really really really loved music.

What was the most challenging thing in your music (artistic) path?

Gain control over my anxiety and fear of failure. And to create my own musical world without trying to please an imaginary crowd.

What would you dream to do if anything was possible?

Basically all I want to do in life is sit in the sun, play my guitar and sing/write songs all day long.
