Somedaze is a Hattiesburg, Mississippi-based band originally formed by vocalist/guitarist Chandler Dunway and drummer Colin Cameron. The project started as a side project of Hattiesburg dream-pop band Goth Dad, releasing its self-titled EP in early 2019.
Now, Somedaze is coming back nearly eight years later with a new sound and debut full-length album on the way in 2026. “Black Horse” is the first single from their upcoming album and reflects how much the band has grown, both musically and personally, since those early days. After years away from the project, Somedaze is gearing up for a busy run of shows and the release of their debut LP.
“Black Horse” starts in a classic rock n’ roll fashion, with a strong guitar and drums, followed by that sense of something amazing is about to come out of your speakers.

The transition of the horse being black to dead strengthens the emotion of the track, drilling home those pleading vocals.

Poor old body in the cold hard dirt
I can’t think straight
I see our bodies in the cold hard dirt
He was so perfect
Feet pressed inside that lacquered fence
Running in circles
The end of the song gave me chills, especially the lines of,
You want to be happy
I want to live forever
I want to be noticed
Pressing my feet til’ I hear you scream
The desperation for connection, for attention, blended so well sonically with the end of the song, and I greatly appreciated the immediate drop-off.
“Black Horse” is the first single off of their upcoming album, and after listening to this song, I am so excited for the album, because they’ve gained another listener!
