murdermart are blowing up in a big way, but even bands at a threshold have their down moments. Recording sessions go awry, songs get left unfinished in the trash, and members let individual personal problems get in the way of creativity. In those times of distress, everyone involved with the band can feel like a loser. And yet, those are the occasions when the dam breaks, the emotions flow, the connections reform, and the music hits harder than ever.
Such is the case for murdermart’s new single “LOSER”. After a couple of years of great production – which included the release of their 2024 album COWBOYS LIVE FOREVER and 2025 EP the science to everything lasting – murdermart went through a down period. But “LOSER” gave them the breakthrough they needed to overcome their problems and get back to making excellent music. The recording session for “LOSER” also begat singles “4U” and “LANDSLIDE”, both of which have already hit streaming platforms.
“LOSER” is a trademark of murdermart’s style: Slightly sludgy alt-indie that builds up to massive harmonies and anthemic musical statements evocative of big emotions. Warped voices and instruments give off an analog and authentic feel, but the track has a sing-along vibe that craves a small club packed full of fans screaming “You look so good you’re a winner / You look like me I’m a loser”. This is one of those songs that carries a lot of emotional weight in the recording, but live it’s sure to rile up a crowd.
murdermart’s new single is all about letting every doubt and frustration out into the world, releasing it in a mighty purge and hoping to find clarity. It’s yet another banger from the band in 2026, and a sign of bigger and brighter things to come. Take a listen to “LOSER” below.
