Club 8, one of the pillars of Sweden’s indie pop scene, released “The Sweetness Of Honey” on July 31st, the latest single from their upcoming album Weeks Of Golden Beats due in September. The album closes out a trilogy that began with “A Year with Club 8” in December 2024 and continued with “Seasonal Echoes” in 2025; their single is a strong indication of a great finish for them.
“The Sweetness Of Honey” is a groovy listen that pulled me in from the start of the track. Karolina Komstedt and Johan Angergård have always had a knack for blending melodic pop with dance and electronic influences, and this track leans into what they wanted. The production is vibrant and again groovy; the instrumental stretch towards the end, which sounds like a saxophone, is a genuinely fun touch that gives the song a summer-esque finish that I admire.
Club 8 navigates a bittersweet feeling in their lyrics so well, the way it describes a push and pull between sweetness and a bitter aftertaste, closeness and distance capture that feeling of something good slowly fading out.
“The Sweetness Of Honey” is a fun, confident single from a band that I think is on an amazing track. Weeks of Golden Beats is one to watch for September!! 🙂
