Single: Lozenge – Bird’s-Eye View

Leeds-based shoegaze crew drops single number three in 2026, a crushing soundtrack for a battle against oneself.

We have been on the Lozenge beat throughout the first few months of 2026. The Leeds-based noisemakers have released two out of four singles so far – “Silver” and “For Lack Of Trying” – which we have covered. Now comes number three, “Bird’s-Eye View”, which builds just as tall of a wall of sound as the others.

Except here, after a whispered four-count and an introductory wail of guitar feedback, Joe Collinson’s vocals kick things off from the jump, launching the band into a musical slugfest against the self. “The song is about fighting the battle of knowing yourself, fighting it wrong, and then not knowing it’s not a battle,” the band says about the track.

Collinson masters the art of singing quiet under his blazing guitars: The vocals retain the tone of desperation and urgency even at a lower volume. It smacks of someone throwing punches at the speed bag long after their last loss, unable to shake off the pain, practicing for the next battle even if they never get another chance to prove themselves.

The song, like the other two singles before it this year, contains loads of atmosphere: The chorus effect on the guitars makes them sound like a symphony, while the drums echo far into the aural distance giving the sense of loneliness and disaffection. It makes for solid shoegaze and captures the pain of getting caught up in mental struggles, especially toward the end when Joe Clarke’s bass and Jacob Marston’s drums cut out, leaving Collinson alone to provide the musical equivalent of licking their wounds.

All in all, another solid entry from Lozenge in 2026; it leaves us looking forward to their last single they have planned for release this year. Take a listen to “Bird’s-Eye View” below.
