Single: Wyldest – All It Would Take Is A Phone Call

With a sound that’s part Phoebe Bridgers and part Billie Eilish, but eminently quirkier than both (more in common with Mitski or Cat Power), the newest tune from Wyldest (aka Zoe Mead) continues the recent run of spectacular singles.

Wyldest has been in the game since 2015, and her experience shows. She effortlessly melds elements of various genres like dreampop, indie, lo-fi and psychedelia, mixing sparsely used guitars, prominent bass, luscious strings and electronic manipulation.

Lyrically, the song is a tense meditation on familial estrangement (“Now you’re just another memory / Locked away inside my veins / On your way to leave an everlasting stain”). All It Would Take Is A Phone Call examines the discreet ache of a relationship defined more by blood than by actual connection.

Wyldest is currently working on a new album that will touch on even more styles, dabbling in synth pop, classical and more. No doubt her work composing scores for films and computer games will bleed into this too. We look forward to hearing it.
