Live Session: Honey I’m Home live at the Elm Tree House

“The upcoming live session was filmed in a deserted mansion on Netherhall Gardens, Hampstead, in London. A location infamous for its ghostly reputation. Late at night, under the direction of Sydney-based producer Blain Cunneen (Julia Jacklin, Human Noise), the band brought three tracks to life: Stop Sign, Wishful Thinking, and Happier. The creepy setting serves as an ideal backdrop for the band’s melancholic, atmospheric sound.”

This blurb originates from the press release accompanying our upcoming live session. For those interested in delving deeper into the backstory, I encourage you to visit our YouTube page where you can find additional information.

“Honey I’m Home” is a relatively new band emerging on the vibrant Dutch music scene. Despite their recent formation, they have already garnered the opportunity to open for renowned acts such as Goat Girl, Hotline TNT, and girl in red. Their impressive trajectory also includes a UK tour supporting the band Blood Wizard, which has significantly increased their visibility and reputation. This upcoming live session serves as a testament to their growing impact in the industry and showcases their unique sound and energy.

The press release also provides further insights into their journey and artistic vision, highlighting the influences and experiences that have shaped their music.

“Their live performances are full of dynamic range, seamlessly shifting from intimate moments to explosive climaxes, blending layered guitars with deeply personal lyrics. Beyond their musical influences, Honey I’m Home is visually influenced by the eerie, dark atmosphere of VHS horror. This haunting aesthetic intertwines with the melancholy of shoegaze, incorporating nostalgic elements of Super 8 film and dark fantasy. These visual elements form a vital part of the band’s artistic identity.”

It has been quite some time since I experienced such an incredible live session. I found myself utterly captivated by the band’s unique blend of ’90s nostalgia, combined with elements of shoegaze and dream pop. The haunting quality of the vocals and the mesmerizing guitar riffs created an atmosphere that was truly unforgettable.

The session, lasting 11 minutes, featured three distinct songs, and I savored every single moment of it. Each track showcased the band’s remarkable talent, making it easy to see why they are already beginning to leave a lasting impression on their listeners.

I can only imagine the magic of being present at that live performance, surrounded by others, experiencing the music with my own ears and allowing myself to be swept away by their ethereal soundscapes. I truly believe this band has a bright future ahead of them and they’ve certainly gained a dedicated fan in Slovakia.

I sincerely hope they consider touring Europe soon because it would be a dream to see them perform live in Bratislava. Our beloved club, Pink Whale, would provide the perfect intimate setting for their atmospheric sound, and I can already envision the energy of the crowd lost in the music.
