Go Hawaii is an intriguing musical duo hailing from the serene outskirts of Venice, Italy, where they formed their creative partnership in 2016. Known for their eclectic sound, they deftly weave together elements of post-punk, dream pop, and my personal favorite—bedroom pop. Over the years, they’ve released a handful of singles that garnered them a fair amount of recognition, culminating in the launch of their debut album, Trespass, in 2022.
Currently, they are hard at work on new material, with plans to unveil an EP in 2025. For their upcoming singles, they’ve decided to draw inspiration from the nostalgic sounds of ’90s shoegaze and post-punk bands, infusing their music with a distinct, atmospheric quality. One of the members of the duo recently shared some insights about the creative process behind this latest single, giving fans a glimpse into their artistic journey.
“The song is about a dull moment in my life, and I really wanted the lyrics and style to reflect that experience. I’m very happy with how it turned out, as it feels like both the sound and the words are deeply connected to that emotional state. The result was a completely different style than anything we’ve done before, and it felt like an exciting new direction for us.”
The new single radiates with a vibrant energy that has captivated me, causing me to play it on repeat. There’s something enchanting about dreamy post-punk that allows me to lose myself in its sonic landscape time and again. I can truly feel the deep emotions woven throughout the entire track, each note resonating within me. The melody is utterly infectious, making it impossible to resist the urge to nod my head in sync with the rhythm as I listen to it while crafting this very message. This track is an exhilarating find, and I am filled with eager anticipation for the new EP when it finally debuts.
