Single: Stevie Subrizi – It’s Only the End of the World

“I wrote this song on those two miserable days following Election Day 2024.” It’s a given that what has become of the election in America has gotten some of the best people down in the dumps and feeling stuck in a slow forming hell. Those likely to get deported will only feel like they were ejected from a plane seconds from exploding. The better of us is someone who can take all of this frustration and still make the times sound as sweet as cotton candy. That would be Stevie Subrizi.

Stevie Subrizi manages to either lift your spirits or encourage you to embrace the fallout of America all while transporting you back to when C86 turned from a name of a tape into a music genre that truly sounds like what would happen if a garage rocker tried writing a pop song. That’s Subrizi’s sound in a nutshell, but lyrics like “they can’t round us up until they round us all up” and “they’ve got the guns, we’ve got the numbers” bring out a defiant attitude where normally, there would have been lyrical dour, sometimes delivered with humor.

If today is when Stonewall, BlackLivesMatter, StopAsianHate and all of the revolutions come together in resistance to what’s about to transpire, then Subrizi kicking things off with a vintage jangle punk anthem is a welcome track to get us through the now till then.
