This musical group was established in 2020 in Philadelphia before relocating to Northern Ireland – Belfast in 2022. It began as a modest project based in a bedroom, but has since flourished. The current lineup features Andy Bunting as the vocalist and guitarist, Caoilfhinn McFadden on bass, and Cathal Francis contributing as guitarist and vocalist. Their music blends influences from American midwest emo, folk rock, and bedroom pop, incorporating elements like captivating slide guitar, danceable bass lines, and rich harmonies.
New single ‘Cypress’ is a moment of total clarity. A beautifully-judged mid-tempo drift of a track that frames Bunting’s unforgettable vocals around a tempered, shuffling drum beat and the gentle downcast softness of whispered guitar and synth lines.
The band describes their music as “bedroom emo,” a label that aptly encapsulates the essence of their sound. The raw, intimate vocals exude a sense of vulnerability, while the emotive undertones of the music are fully realized in the poignant lyrics. I’ve found myself drawn to the captivating sound, immersing myself in the heartfelt lyrics, and getting lost in the evocative melodies.
