Single: The Rightovers – Memory Kid

The Rightovers are a jangle pop/noise pop band from San Diego. Imagine The Cars fronted by Kevin Shields or Psychocandy played by early Cure and you’ll be in the ballpark of the music that the band makes. The Rightovers have been a regular on the San Diego club circuit since 2018, played sold out shows at legendary punk venue The Casbah, and have released multiple long players on Jigsaw Records (Portland).

We recently received this short bio along with the latest single, which was actually released in January but only submitted to us recently. Whether it’s new or a few years old, we cover all kinds of music. I’m pleased that the band got in touch with us and introduced us to their jangle noise pop song; otherwise, I might have missed it. The band has been active since 2015 when they released their debut album ‘Blue Blood’, which is definitely worth revisiting. There’s been a clear progression in their music since then, but I still enjoy their older music. The energy in their newest release is truly outstanding, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it. It has a delightful retro vibe that reminds me of older music, like The Cure. I really appreciate this reference; it’s quite refreshing to hear this sound again. The Rightovers have delivered a fantastic song, and I’m excited to see what they will create next.
