I recently came across a musician from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, a city that has been etched in my memory since childhood, thanks to the Edmonton Oilers. I used to avidly follow NHL news, and even though I still have a soft spot for ice hockey, I now prefer attending local games rather than watching them on TV. But I digress; let’s get back to the music.
I received a submission for a song called “Cuts,” which is part of an album. The artist listed Alex G, Starry Cat, and salvia palth as similar artists, which immediately caught my attention because I’m a huge fan of these musicians. Naturally, I had high expectations for this song, and I was not disappointed. That’s when I discovered that there’s a whole album, and I dived into it right away.
While running errands and doing some grocery shopping today, I listened to the album again, and it was truly special. The collection of lo-fi, bedroom pop songs with experimental vibes and a colorful sound palette was both melancholic and heartfelt, creating a dreamy and gentle atmosphere. It’s the kind of music that allows you to add your own emotions to the description. I was glad I had the album with me, as it helped me tune out the hustle and bustle of the grocery store, which can sometimes be overwhelming.
When I got back home, I lounged on our sofa, grabbed my laptop, and started writing about my experience with the album. As it played in the background, I let it take me on a lo-fi journey with its beautiful atmosphere. I’ve always had a soft spot for albums like this one, where each song reveals something new. They’re similar, yet distinctive, and that’s something I truly appreciate. Give this album a chance, and I’m sure you’ll love it too.

What inspired you to start making music and what keeps you making music?
My dad has always been in bands and my mom liked music equally. They listen to great music, although when I was young I always didn’t like it unless I had found it on my own.
What was the most challenging thing in your music (artistic) path?
A mix of self hatred and perfection. There will always be people telling you that you wont succeed, or that the path you are taking is reckless, but what is most difficult for me will always be self criticism. I can drown out others but never myself.
What would you dream to do if anything was possible?
I would dream that everyone cared about the future of the world we live in, as well as cared for the state of music.
