Single: Peli Gene – A Pond

We have shared Peli Gene and his catchy singles before on our blog, so there is no need for an introduction. The newest song “A Pond” is the second single from upcoming Peli Gene’s sophomore album. The artist says about the song following:

“The track depicts a sense of seeking refuge and solace amidst chaos and uncertainty. It was written about an important life event, the song tells a story of the crazy emotions one experiences when faced with intense change in life. With the “pond” serving as a symbol of tranquility, and the “home beside the pond” acting as a place of comfort, the song explores the juxtaposition of change (whether being positive or negative) affecting the peace of ones life. Finding temporary relief from struggles in this serene environment, represented by a treehouse “far above the change”, there’s an underlying sense of resignation and waiting for something to disrupt this peace, whether it’s a positive or negative change.”

Once again, the captivating ambiance of the song, featuring melodious guitars and the delightful addition of synths, creates a mesmerizing blend of dream pop and bedroom pop infused with hints of surf rock. Peli Gene has produced yet another lively track that easily captures one’s attention.

Along with the song, a lyric video was shot in Italy and Switzerland, where Gabe, also known as Peli Gene, spent his recent vacation. The video complements the surfy, dreamy vibe, despite being filmed in mountainous and lakeside settings. I’ve often pondered whether a sea is necessary for good surf pop, but it seems that lakes can work just as well. Although Slovakia lacks an ocean or sea, I’ve always hoped for more dreamy, surfy bands here. Perhaps we can draw inspiration from the sound and make it our own.

This song evokes a summery, dreamy atmosphere that I’ll treasure in the days ahead. While I’m delighted that my favorite season, fall, has arrived, I’ll always be ready to infuse new energy by listening to tracks like this one. Give it a listen, and you’ll be captivated.
