Dreamlike, shimmering, ethereal, and sexy, Yard Sale is the work of Dallas, Texas-based indie-pop duo Lowne, which is made up of co-producers – and also lovers – Abby Cole (who also records under the name Velcro Baby Ego) and Matheus Nascimento (who also goes by Slowaves).
Lowne is a vehicle for the duo to explore elements and ideas that wouldn’t necessarily fit into their respective solo projects. The resulting eclectic sound of Lowne, is inventive but at the same time flecked with familiarity. They play with elements of psychedelia and blend them with clear synth-pop influences, and even sprinkle in a bit of AOR and blue-eyed soul.
The track reflects on the sense of liberation and release that occurs when each person in a healthy relationship can let go of their emotional baggage. There’s also a darker undertone to the seemingly laid-back track that hints at the potentially harmful concept of perhaps suppressing certain things, as opposed to addressing them.
The persistent beat, the floating guitars and the soothing synths meld together beautifully to make something wonderfully sunny and summery that could very well end up becoming the perfect soundtrack to your burgeoning spring.
