Single: Kallsup – Forever

We previously introduced this Swedish shoegaze band in our last post, so we will not repeat ourselves. You can read about it here:

“Forever” is a dramatic song that carries sadness, but also the same kind of hope that exists when the last summer rain has subsided and you are balancing between wet asphalt and the sludge. The constant pendulum between the safe place built on strength and unconditional love and a place that attracts with the opposite. “Everything and nothing / means forever / in my dreams” echoes in the chorus and Eline Gustafsson has perhaps never sounded more sure of her own doubts.

The band is set to release their highly anticipated debut album on March 28th, and they will be embarking on a European tour shortly thereafter, making it an ideal opportunity for fans to catch their live performances if they’re nearby. This upcoming track is actually their third and final single from the album, and having thoroughly enjoyed their previous release, I found myself eagerly awaiting this one as well.

This new single continues to explore the dreamy shoegaze sound that the band has become known for, but it leans even more toward the ethereal qualities of dream pop. It’s a refreshing shift that creates a lovely contrast to the more energetic tone of their last single, allowing listeners to immerse themselves in a different layer of their musicality.

From what I’ve heard so far, the album is shaping up to be a delightful experience, filled with rich, textured sounds that rival their earlier songs. I’m genuinely thrilled to have stumbled upon this band; their ethereal soundscapes, which feature cascades of endless guitars paired with sublime, dreamy vocals, have captivated me deeply.

The song gradually builds in intensity, incorporating heavier elements that enhance the atmospheric quality and emotional impact it leaves on the listener. With just a month to go until the full album release, the snippets I’ve heard so far have been incredibly promising, and I can’t wait to experience the complete collection of their work. I’m excited to see how their sound evolves and am eager to share this discovery with others who appreciate enchanting music.
