“This is a love sound about friendship, written by two songwriters and long-term collaborators. It’s about being 18 and bonding over the music of Simon and Garfunkel.“
This collaboration brings together the musical talents of Jim Bell, the lead guitarist for the dream-pop band Kombu Nori, which was a finalist in this year’s Green Man Festival’s Green Man Rising competition. Additionally, Jim is also the guitarist for alternative-jazz and soul artist Evie Asio, who has garnered support from renowned platforms such as Jazz FM and BBC Radio 6.
As for Koach Mike, despite being elusive online, his involvement adds an air of mystery to the collaboration. Interestingly, my wife is a devoted fan of Jazz FM, so hearing Jim’s music on that radio station holds a special significance for me.
The resulting song is a delightful fusion of jangle dreamy indie pop rock, evoking a retro sound with a refreshingly contemporary twist. Its captivating melody and innovative sound make it one of the best indie pop songs I’ve had the pleasure of listening to in quite some time.
