Hound have unearthed their new single, ‘Holding Out’. It will be the first track released from the Glaswegian four-piece’s upcoming EP, ‘Some Days Were Good…’.Out 20/10/23.
Hound have established themselves as a formidable presence in the alternative rock scene, with a series of memorable single releases that have achieved national radio airplay. They have toured across the UK, raising their lo-fi slacker-rock sound to new heights with a powerful and energetic live show.
Taking influence from artists including Weezer, Pavement, Paraquet Courts, and Yuck, hailing coming from a background of dream pop, shoegaze and metal; Hound have refined their own sound.
Now, with the release of ‘Holding Out’ and ‘Some Days Were Good…’, Hound are expanding and redefining their infectious power pop sound: intricate guitar hooks, soaring vocal melodies, bombastic rhythm, encompassing themes of nostalgia, loss, romance, and yearning.
“It’s about wanting to leave town [and] change up my life,” vocalist/guitarist Zack Manson says of ‘Holding Out’, “but then realizing how much Glasgow and the people here are home to me.”
On the writing of ‘Holding Out’ – “It was one of those sessions where after the first run through it was pretty much ready. We were all ecstatic.”
In promotion of their upcoming EP, ‘Some Days Were Good…’, Hound are touring the UK playing shows in Newcastle, London and Manchester on the 12th, 13th and 14th of October respectively with a homecoming show in Glasgow on 20/10/23.
Another great band from my favorite Scotland city Glasgow. I am so happy to discover so many great bands coming from there.
I love the 90s energy coming from the song, it feels quite nostalgic and I am getting to the point, when feeling nostalgic is a good thing. The guitar parts created a nice drive in the song and I was enjoying quite a bit. I am looking forward to the upcoming EP and I hope it will be as good as this track.
