coda is an intimate acoustic track, detailing the struggles of love and longing for someone when you don’t yet know whether that person will be able to love you back. It has already become a favourite for amateur theatre group fans who purchased the wake up, doldrums cassette, and is now set to find a wider audience.
wake up, doldrums was the follow-up to singles bloom and agitator, released in the second half of 2023 after more than a year away.
Written and recorded in Wales, the EP opens with wake up, a deliberately ambiguous track about a car ride shared with a loved one, with apocalyptic undertones, before heading into comma, an instrumental built from a number of minimalist guitar lines that conspire to create an ever changing sonic skyline.
The third track is doldrums, whose repeated guitar pattern breathes steadily as the arrangement opens up around it, providing the bed for a vocal urging the need to hold on in difficult times and accept the help of others around you.“
