EP: Milk Knife – Milk Knife

Milk Knife is the musical project of Hamilton, Ontario-based artist and photographer Paige Paton. Her EP “Milk Knife” consists of four tracks.

The main elements here are guitars and vocals. Simple as it may sound, it goes a long way. The recording and production is a third element on its own. There are drone sounds, ebow slides and scratches, grungy harmonies and backing vocals and quite a few percussion sounds that are very primal and straightforward.

This is an EP that you should definitely listen to from start to finish on headphones, as it is raw and unrefined and the general vibe and soundscape are very immersive.

I don’t know how Milk Knife presents her music live, but I am definitely imagining some visuals with an experimental, indie and dreamy vibe to go with her music.

The last track, “Everything Forever” is perfect in its placement, as it’s when her voice takes over, with less sound design and a more intimate singer-songwriter feel.
