I don’t know how many people above 35 are readers of Start-Track, but this album is not only a treat but a testament to most that age is not a boundary for people who just love to rock. 55 is an album that boasts some chuckle-worthy lyrics and chords poppy enough to have you paying attention from one song to the last.
From the chuckling yet sad story of a relationship that never actually was due to a woman who isn’t in love and a man who insists that they be (“Schrodinger’s Girlfriend”) to having to deal with an unstable person (“Planes”, a song that uses the metaphor of planes and all that has to do with it to write about it), the lyrics will either have you using such words as a common phrase (I know social media will wear out “Schrodinger’s Girlfriend”) or will have you covering “Planes” a lot.
But as good as those songs are, “At 53” is one that should be considered the most inspiring. When you have a fear of getting old,”At 53” looks to both the past and the future and inspires you to make of your time what you wish to. Also, inspires you to never let time be a factor of anything but what you wish for it to be.
The album cover, which depicts four songs in four different drawn pictures, all might look like just four random songs, but this random collection lays out like a rock n’ roll concept EP aboutovimg on, starting over and realizing there is always time to do so.
