“Lean Tee is an up-and-coming indie group from Baltimore, USA. Their fuzzed out, eclectic brand of emo seems to look forward and behind at the same time, balancing sonic experimentation with nostalgic hooks and a healthy dose of shoegazing. They recall the contagious lofi energy of Pinback and Duster while creating a truly unique sound.”
I recently received an introduction along with a submission for a song from an album that piqued my interest. After doing some research, I discovered that the album was released back in July, but it had not been made available on streaming platforms yet, which I found intriguing.
This album is a delightful blend of various genres such as dream pop, shoegaze, slacker rock, and alternative rock, presenting an array of surprising twists and turns. The colorful nature of the album truly showcases the band’s versatility, spanning from melancholic tunes to more upbeat tracks. While some albums seem like a hodgepodge of songs put together, in this case, each song stands on its own and offers a unique and enjoyable listening experience.
It’s interesting to note that many bands are prioritizing the individual strength of their songs rather than focusing on creating a cohesive album, and in this instance, it works very well. Lean Tee has done an outstanding job in creating an album that invites listeners on a pleasurable and engaging musical journey.
Personally, I found it difficult to choose a favorite track, as each one offered a delightful discovery. If you’re looking to start exploring the album, “800m,” the song that was originally submitted to us, is a great starting point, but feel free to jump in wherever you like. I’m confident that you’ll find a gem that you’ll thoroughly enjoy and will want to return to the album for more.
