What first drew me into “I Wanna Go Home” by Lazy Days wasn’t the energetic guitars or that the track is built upon or Emma Plant’s slightly sultry vocals (although both are exceptional). Rather, it was the press info that came with the track. More specifically two sentences: “With the rise of AI and the massive rebellion against it, we are trying to create the most authentic music possible. And hey, who can’t relate to wanting to go home?” They’re right, AI has no place in music and everyone loves their bed!
Created using real instruments and recorded in their home studio, “I Wanna Go Home” is a rather simple concept for a song, but one that I loved nonetheless. I even found myself humming the chorus as I went about my day, because if there’s one thing that the band are able to do, it’s write a catchy song. Alongside this catchiness, there are hints of pop-punk and rock throughout the track, and anyone who knows me knows that I am a sucker for. those sounds. Maybe it’s the vocals that are reminiscent of Joan Jett, or maybe it’s the incredibly punchy drums. Who knows? Either way, all of it absolutely works here, giving “I Wanna Go Home” layers which turn the track from something good into something brilliant.
Having worked with each other (Plant, Craig McDorman and Del Cowsill) since 2023, it’s clear to see that those years of hard work and community ethos are paying off, making something that’s fun and enjoyable not just for listeners but the band too!
A relatable anthem released just in time for summer, I have no doubt in my mind that Lazy Days are going to go far in their music career, and I can’t wait to see that happen!
