Single: GRAZER – A Wretch Like You

The sounds of heaven have flown down from their peak and planted their roots in this new song from GRAZER. A Wretch Like You was released in mid-April of this year, as an appetizer to the main event dropping in July, and I’m here to overindulge and take in my fill of this amazing group before they shoot off into space.

This is my first introduction to GRAZER, and what they brought to the table with this single is hard to put into words; it’s a feeling that any music enthusiast knows well, the kind that fills you with phrases like “Oh, so this is what life’s about”.

Mollie and Matt, an incredibly talented couple from Melbourne, are known for their ability to cohesively combine 80’s Britpop and 90’s shoegaze into a unique and ethereal experience for the listener.

Growing up, I developed my love for synths and 80’s music by watching popular movies and shows from that time period. Though I wasn’t alive in the 1980’s personally, I am instantly transported to my version of that when I turn this track on. The lovestruck call and response vocals from the couple paired with the happy-go-lucky guitar melody and fade out at the end…you could show this to someone, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they pinned it for an 80’s release upon first listen.

If golden rays of the sun had a sound, it would be this song. If you enjoy good music (of course, you do, you’re reading this blog), you NEED to give this song 3 minutes of your time. Dip your toes in, soak up the vibes, and nibble on this song until the aforementioned July surprise.

Like what you hear? Give GRAZER a follow on socials and stream their music so you can say you were a superfan before they inevitably blow up into infinity and beyond.
