Young Mountain, from Gothenburg Sweden, has just put out their gazey new single “Violet” on April 10. Moving further in the direction of post-punk shoegaze, “Violet” is the first single off their upcoming EP set to be released this summer.
The song hooks you with dancey post-punk rhythm while the guitars emanate the shoegaze reverb/chorus effect. The vocals hold a lot of emotion and dynamics–as well as the song itself. There are multiple moving parts to this song making it feel intentionally thought out while effortless at the same time. You can tell Young Mountain has been doing this for some time and they don’t plan to stop anytime soon.
Catch Young Mountain in Northern Europe this spring on tour with Spanish screamo band Boneflower, and be on the lookout for the Young Mountain EP this summer.
