EP: Buí – Are You Listening / Ruminate

A couple of new songs. First one was written in September there, the other one in October. All parts written, recorded, performed and mixed by Josh Healy.

Both tracks home recorded to 4 track cassette tape using a tascam portastudio 7, with some digital overdubs added later to both tracks.

While managing our Spotify playlists, I stumbled upon some exciting news: Buí has just released a captivating new double single EP. Eager to dive in, I pressed play immediately and was swept away by the enchanting soundscape. It felt like falling in love all over again. Recently, we covered their previous EP, “Stopping Distance,” and I must say, M.A Welsh, also known as Mispophone, did a remarkable job capturing the true essence of that project. It’s a delightful blend of emotion and artistry that truly resonates. Read on for more details:

I was absolutely captivated by the review our writer shared regarding the previous EP, which I’ve been listening to on repeat. It resonated with me deeply, so I was thrilled to discover new music from Josh – what an incredible surprise! These two new songs are nothing short of a treasure. I must admit, stumbling upon Josh’s music has been one of the standout highlights of the past year for me, and I can’t help but imagine how fantastic it would sound on a cassette.

The slacker, lo-fi, sad slowcore sound has completely enchanted me over the last few months, especially given the sheer beauty and nuance embedded in this music. Josh is undoubtedly a mastermind; I find myself eagerly anticipating his future works. I’ve already played the new songs several times, and I plan to keep them on the loop all day, allowing myself to be fully immersed in their mesmerizing soundscapes.

These tracks are truly gems, and I have no doubt that many will fall in love with them just as I have. While I wish I could articulate my thoughts as beautifully as Misophone, I don’t want to take away from their eloquence. So, I encourage you to read the post above for their insights. In the meantime, I’ll lose myself in these enchanting songs, letting them wash over me for the entire day.
