Single: Kitty Fitz – Laughing Stock

I am going to share an excerpt from the press release we received for this single:

“‘Laughing Stock’ is a poignant and introspective track, showcasing Kitty’s signature blend of evocative lyrics and 90’s power-pop influencers. The song offers a candid look into her own relationship patterns, wrapped in wry humour and melodic charm.

“I’ve been developing the sound of ‘Laughing Stock’ over the past year of playing it live and feeling out what I wanted it to be sonically. I expected it to turn more poppy and synthy, but it just organically stayed exactly as I originally envisioned it, with what I always felt was a very “Weezer” vibe take on production” Kitty explains. “The meaning behind this song is the epitome of me attempting to pass off my own fear of commitment and rejection as character flaw, as being cool and aloof, or once again feeling in a way “unloveable”.

I recently came across a new single that was released by Sad Club Records a few days ago. This track falls under the low-key indie rock genre but is infused with delightful indie pop elements. The sound is refreshingly distinctive compared to the countless alternative pop submissions I’ve been receiving lately. What really captivated me was the emphasis on the vocals, which were complemented perfectly by the accompanying instruments. As I listened, I found myself getting lost in the melody and letting the soothing vocals wash over me. It’s a fantastic indie pop track that aligns perfectly with my goal of reviving the coolness of classic bedroom pop.

Have nothing to give you man
Maybe some leftover lust and the higher ground
Everything else I gave away
Why even bother I’m such a waste of time
