‘Sing a lullaby, getting by’
Sometimes the presence of darkness is difficult to detect, flying low under the radar like a bird with no flock. Club 8’s new single ‘Getting By’ is an example of this, initially coming across as purposeful and rocking dream pop, all soaring guitar lines, whiplash snares and slacker lyrics. As the track progresses, however, a sense of dread sneaks in, namely via the almost-whispered vocals and the snaking, mini guitar solos.
This Swedish duo live in the palpable urgency of a city street as dusk sets in. Quite frankly I’d like to spend a little time there with them.
