“Delicately treading the tightrope between folk and post-rock, Ladylike hone a unique and shifting sound.
Having spent time establishing themselves in Brighton’s live music scene on lineups with bands such as Divorce, Blood Wizard, The Paranoyds, Lorelle Meets The Obsolete and Genn, the four piece have crafted their live sound; which they’ve carefully wrapped up and articulated in the form of their debut single ‘Southbound’ out 17th November 2023.
‘Southbound’ depicts life in its mundane form, escaping into a drift of abrupt sections that display the discovery of the band’s sound as a unit and a stream-of-consciousness approach to songwriting.”
You know I love sharing music from upcoming bands and it always feels special to share a debut single. It feels so fresh, not so overheard, we have an expression “obkukaný” in Slovak, which fits what I want to say, but let’s not waste time finding the right word. This mellow, a little bit fuzzy slowcore indie rock has beautiful vocals and melody that will get you hooked. I can blast this in my headphones and disappear fro the world for a while. I am excited to listen to more from this British band. Brighton’s music scene was always vibrant and produced great indie bands. I am glad this one came my way.
The bonus is that it was submitted by my friend Archie from Crafting Room Recordings, a great Brighton-based label.
