At Start-Track we like to invite our favourite artists to create guest playlists for us to share on our ever-expanding Spotify profile. Across the playlist’s 30 songs, these artists share music they’ve been listening to recently, as well as some which have shaped their own art and philosophies.
This new playlist is from Adrian Brian Thompson of AnalogueTrash record label (see their recent Introducing labels feature here). This UK-based label recently blew us away with the “Problem Is” single by Friends of Our Youth.
Here’s what we had to say about it in August:
“I’ve been particularly drawn in by the fast-paced drums, catchy guitar riffs, and overall energy that easily captures your attention. I’ve been listening to it on repeat to fully immerse myself in the melody and to evoke some delightful nostalgia for ’00s indie rock.” (read the full Start-Track review here)
Not only is AnalogueTrash an excellent label, but they also run a prolific new music blog, one which has previously featured recent Start-Track favourites like Las Nubes, Magana, and Julia-Sophie, so you should find much to enjoy in their pages too.
30 Tracks Picked by AnalogueTrash:
AnalogueTrash have kindly put together a 30-track playlist for us, one which boasts an eclectic set of artists, including The Magnetic Fields, Pet Shop Boys, Guided By Voices, Le Tigre, Jean-Michel Jarre, Giorgio Moroder, Kraftwerk, and even Girls Aloud, alongside hits from their own catalogue.
When describing his selections, Thompson shared this with us:
“The selected tracks are songs that inspired us personally, or that artists we’re working with have cited as formative inspirations in their work. It’s a really mixed bag, but that eclecticism is what defines us as a label, I think.”
There’s much to discover in this playlist so please be sure to listen, and also to subscribe to the Start-Track Spotify channel here. You can find a full list of guest playlists here.
If you’d like to dig a little further into the AnalogueTrash catalogue, you can pick up recent releases from The Royal Ritual, Birdman Cult, This Bliss, and Lines of Silence. Plus, you can check out their new music picks on their blog.
